School Supplies 2023-2024

PreK-5th Grade Supplies

For Lower School students enrolled by July 15th, supply packs are purchased on behalf of the families and will be waiting for the students in their classroom on the first day of school. The cost of the supply pack will be added to the student's SchoolAdmin billing account for payment with August tuition.

STEM Supplies for 3rd-5th Grade
3rd-5th grade students are responsible for purchasing their own Raspberry Pi computer and accessories for use in their weekly STEM class. The computer will be theirs to keep so they can continue their STEM enrichment over the summer months as well as for use during future STEM classes at Banff.
  • Only Vilros or Canakit brands are allowed
  • There are two models that will be compatible with the Banff curriculum. Choose either a Raspberry Pi 4 or a Raspberry Pi 3B. Multiple purchase options are provided for each model in case one is sold out or backordered:
     
    • Model 1: Raspberry Pi 4 (newer model - preferred option)
      • This model is available in a 4GB or 8GB version (8GB preferred, but not required).
      • The case must be passively-cooled (fan-cooled devices are not allowed).
      • Choose from one of the options below:
      • Students ordering the Raspberry Pi 4 model will also need to order a micro-HDMI cable.
    • Model 2: Raspberry Pi 3B Plus

PLEASE NOTE: Returning students who purchased a Raspberry Pi in prior years do not need to purchase a new one this year as long as their current Raspberry Pi is still in good condition and they still have all accessories. This includes the Raspberry Pi & Heat Sinks; Case & lid, class 10 SD disk (pre-loaded with NOOBS or OS already installed), Power Supply/Plug. If you are missing any parts you can buy them individually from the Vilros or Cana websites.

Additionally, all 3rd-5th grade STEM students will need wired headphones or ear buds. Bluetooth headphones are not compatible. Students will need to bring these to every class, so please provide a set to leave at school.

Instructions will be given as to when to bring the student's Raspberry Pi and accessories to school.

6-12th Grade Supplies

6th-12th grade students are responsible for the purchase (in advance) of their school supplies. These may be purchased at any supply store. Students should always have available general supplies such as pencils, pens, loose-leaf paper, etc. in their lockers.

REQUIRED PERSONAL SUPPLIES (ALL STUDENTS)

  • 1 two-inch binder (no zip binders as they do not fit in lockers)
  • 2 packs of notebook dividers with tabs
  • College-ruled notebook paper
  • 5 College-ruled spiral notebooks (with holes)
  • 1 package of colored pencils (small pack of 6 is sufficient)
  • Eraser
  • Pencils, Blue or black pens, 1 red pen, highlighter, pen pouch
  • Scissors
  • Earbuds or headphones
  • Personal container of hand sanitizer (as needed)
  • SCIENCE SUPPLIES:
    • Safety goggles
  • MATH SUPPLIES:
    • Depending on class: Protractor, compass, clear plastic ruler marked in centimeters and inches, personal set of dry erase marker/eraser 
      • teacher will communicate specific needs during first week of school
    • 6th grade Math students: basic calculator
    • 7th-12th grade Math: TI-84 or TI-Inspire calculator required
      • Casio and Computer Algebra System (CAS) calculators are not permitted.

REQUIRED COMMUNITY SUPPLIES (ALL STUDENTS)

Each student is responsible for bringing these shared items to school. They can be turned in during New Student Orientation, Locker Setup or to the student's first-period teacher on the first day of school:

  • 1 ream (500 pieces) of printer paper
  • 2 boxes of facial tissues
  • 1 container of disinfecting wipes
  • 1 package of dry-erase markers -- minimum 4-count
  • 1 package of 3"x3" sticky notes (i.e Post-Its) -- minimum 4-count


STEM ELECTIVE SUPPLIES

For 6th-8th grade students who choose to take the STEM elective, you will also need to provide the following 3 items:

  1. Raspberry Pi Computer
    • Only Vilros or Canakit brands are allowed
    • There are two models that will be compatible with the Banff curriculum (choose one):

VISUAL ARTS ELECTIVE SUPPLIES

For students who choose to take the Visual Arts elective, an 8.5" x 11" sketchbook is required.

AP COMPUTER SCIENCE SUPPLIES

For students who choose to take AP Computer Science, an 11" Composition notebook is required. The notebook must be at least 11" and cannot be a spiral notebook. Example allowed notebook.
