Angela Medvedeva graduated in May of 2014 and attended Harvard for summer courses,  where she gained 8 credits.  She is currently enrolled at the University of Houston and classified as a junior because she took dual credit college courses equating to an Associate’s degree while still in high school.  She is pursuing a Liberal Studies degree with minors in Spanish, French, and Psychology.  She will graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in summer of 2015 and will attend Harvard for graduate school.

Angela is a talented musician as well as an academician and has set as a goal playing at the International Tchaikovsky competition. She is currently studying piano with 2 Russian piano teachers, former and current performers.  She is studying violin under the American violinist and conductor Zachary Carrettin, and is mentored by Rice professor Kenneth Goldsmith.

Austin Ellsworth is majoring in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas Austin.  Taking 39 hours of college credit in high school significantly lessened his class load in college and allowed Austin to be classified as a junior during his second year.  Outside of the classroom, Austin is Vice-President of the Honors Quad Residence Hall Council and plans to play on an intramural softball team in the spring.

Austin attributes the “openness between students and teachers” at Banff to providing him “the confidence to get to know my professors in college, which has been critical to my development as a person and as an engineer.  The confidence to walk into an educator’s office and feel comfortable is a tremendous skill to have, and one that Banff provides.  I feel my 5 years (8th-12th grades) at Banff were hugely important, and I continue to return every so often because I feel the debt of gratitude I owe the staff there is a huge one.  I would not be where I am now without their incredible work.”
